WETLAND RESTORATION

Wetlands are areas that are covered by water for part or most of the year. They help manage flooding, protect water quality, and provide critical habitat. Over time, many wetlands have been destroyed or damaged by development and other activities. Wetlands are restored by either rebuilding a former wetland or repairing a damaged wetland. The process of wetland restoration generally includes restoring natural waterflow, removing weeds, and planting native plants. Restored wetlands can also include walking paths and more natural spaces for people and wildlife to enjoy.
