STORAGE FACILITIES

Storage facilities temporarily store and then release stormwater or wastewater. These structures reduce flows during large storms, helping prevent flooding and sewer overflows. Storage facilities can be tanks, pipes, or tunnels. Sometimes, there are opportunities to increase existing storage facilities. Most storage facilities are underground, and many are under roadways. However, sometimes the surface above the storage facilities can be used for other things like parks or for art.
