CONVEYANCE SWALES

Conveyance swales are shallow, planted channels that collect and move stormwater. Swales are typically on the side of a roadway. Conveyance swales often guide water to other tools that improve water quality or help manage stormwater. In some instances, swales can be designed to also slow water flow and can provide some water quality benefits. Swales with these additional benefits can be a cost-effective way of moving stormwater runoff to safe points of discharge.
